Children’s Feeding Program in partnership with Louisa County Public Schools, and New Life Community Church, assists children who are at risk of hunger when schools are not in session. On weekends, over holidays, and during the summer, kid-friendly food packed in backpacks or boxes are distributed to children who, without them, would not get enough to eat.

Community Cupboard provides monthly allotments of food at no charge to income-eligible Louisa County residents. Basic staples, like canned fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, and protein-rich beans are supplemented with fresh meats, produce, and dairy so that clients have enough variety to create their own nutritious meals.

Emergency Food Pantry provides a week’s worth of groceries to those faced with an unexpected crisis, such as job loss, or medical emergencies. Families may receive an emergency food supply at no charge two times during a six-month period.

Grocery Assistance Program (GAP) is a monthly allotment of food to families who have incomes above federal poverty levels but who are struggling to afford enough healthy food. Independent of any government criteria, GAP serves a growing number of Louisa County residents trying to manage on fixed incomes while their housing, electricity, and medical expenses increase. GAP has no effect on clients currently receiving benefits through our other food assistance programs.

Louisa County Resource Council provides life-sustaining assistance (primarily food) to citizens in our area. Begun in 1992, our agency has five separate programs in place to care for children, the elderly, and families who are at risk of hunger or health problems caused by their inability to get enough nutritious food to eat. The Louisa County Resource Council (LCRC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides community based services to Louisa County residents in need. Meals on Wheels partners with the Central Virginia Food Bank to provide daily, nutritious home- delivered meals and a friendly security check to eligible homebound neighbors who cannot shop or cook for themselves.
