A Message from Director James A. Smith, Jr.

We begin our 41st year of operation by expressing our sincere appreciation to all of the coaches, instructors, staff, and volunteers who invested their time, effort, and energy in assisting our department in making a positive difference in Louisa County over the past 40 years. We are very fortunate and appreciative to be part of a community that comes together to support one another. Our programs, activities, and events may have changed some over the years, but our goal will always be aligned with Building Community, Changing Lives and Making Memories. A lot has changed over the first 40 years, however, the department’s commitment to providing quality programs, activities, and events have remained the same.

In this edition of our Leisure Time Activity Guide, you will find a return of many of our annual signature events. Our Father Daughter-Dance is scheduled early in February, followed by our Easter Eggstravaganza, a Quarters Auction Benefit Event, and new this year, a BBQ Cook-Off and Vendor Event. All of our programs have been vetted based on our ability to keep participants safe. We have made program modifications that include incorporating CDC guidelines and recommendations, as well as participant number restrictions and program location changes.

In addition to the special events, you will also find programs and activities that focus on creating quality family time, youth development, health and fitness, and personal enrichment. We have several programs for preschool age youth, teens, and Fathers & Sons and Mothers & Daughters. You definitely don’t want to miss these programs.

We hope you enjoy this edition of our Leisure Times and we look forward, as always, to serving You and Your recreational needs. Take a few minutes to browse the many recreational opportunities that are listed in this Activity Guide.
