Project Summary
The applicants - BW Solar (contract to lease) and Dustin and Megan Madison (owner) - submitted a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) application for a utility scale solar project on October 12, 2023. The application states (in part, with additional details in the complete CUP application):
The Project proposes the development of a utility scale solar site (the “Site”) of up to 5 megawatts (MW) AC along Peach Grove Road in the northern portion of Louisa County, due west of Lake Anna. The Project’s Concept Plan is included in Attachment 2. All solar development is designed to be located within a single parcel (PID: 14 71) and will occupy approximately 60 acres specifically in the northern section of the parcel. The Site will include a 300-foot buffer along property lines to the north, east, and west with a 75-foot buffer off a wetland feature to the south (part of 300-foot buffer to the south of project that is under site control). The fenced-in area of development will account for approximately 20 acres with setback considerations given for existing internal wetland features. It is the goal of BWS to completely obscure the Project from any adjoining properties.
