Medicaid & FAMIS

Medicaid is a program that provides full or limited medical coverage to eligible low-income Virginia residents. Medicaid covers families with children and pregnant women, medically needy individuals, the elderly, and people with disabilities, if state and federal guidelines are met. Legal residents who are not U.S. citizens may be eligible for Medicaid. Non-citizens who do not have immigration documents cannot enroll in Medicaid.

Family Access to Medical Insurance Security (FAMIS)

FAMIS is Virginia's health insurance program for children in working families. FAMIS helps families provide health insurance to their children. Health insurance is important to make sure that kids are able to get all the help they need to grow up healthy. Visit the Cover Virginia website for more information.
