Historical Weekend Tour

For those looking to discover more about the historical significance of Central Virginia during the Civil War, travelers would check in at the Prospect Hill Plantation Inn, an authentic 18th century plantation on Friday evening. Breakfast would be provided at the Inn (included in lodging fare) from 8:30- 9:30 am on Saturday morning.

Travelers would travel 20 minutes over to the Town of Louisa in order to begin the drive tour - can be accessed here. take a drive thru Bracketts Farm in the Green Spring National Historic District where you will experience "A Tapestry of Rural Landscapes and Architecture." Its farmsteads offer a continuum of rural vernacular architecture in original context with minimal alteration. Landscapes and buildings, many predating the Civil War and connected to one another visually and through family relationships of early occupants, are today preserved through easements.


At the conclusion of the tour, visitors would travel to Gordonsville to The Exchange Hotel: Civil War Medical Museum for a tour of Virginia’s only standing Civil War Receiving Hospital. Visitors would then head over to the Barbeque Exchange for lunch and browse the shops in downtown Gordonsville. Individuals would have the option to stay at Prospect Hill Inn on Saturday night with breakfast included on Sunday morning or would be able to head home directly from Gordonsville on Saturday evening.
