Teen Law Enforcement Academy
Are you considering a career in Law Enforcement? The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled the next Teen Law Enforcement Academy. It will provide high school students with an opportunity to learn more about the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, explore several different careers in law enforcement, understand core law enforcement functions, and participate in hands-on activities. Participants will be instructed as if they were becoming law enforcement officers, being taught law, patrol procedures, arrest procedures, crime scene investigations, firearms, and many other law enforcement specialties. Graduates from the academy will be able to go on a ride-along, do a sit-in at the Emergency Communications Center, and join the LCSO Public Safety Cadets.
You won’t find a better way to learn about the dangerous and difficult jobs done by the men and women of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office than by attending our Teen Law Enforcement Academy! Louisa County Sheriff’s Office will have this academy in the month of June, during Summer School allowing the participants to ride the bus to and from the school, with the exception of the Saturday class. The schedule is in the related documents included on this site.
This academy has a limited number of openings, so make sure to apply soon before the class is filled. If we have a large number of applicants apply there will be a possibility of a second academy class.
The Teen Law Enforcement Academy at this time is for high school teens between the ages of 14-20 years of age. The participants of the Teen Law Enforcement Academy will have the opportunity to become familiar with the day-to-day operations of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, enabling them to gain a better understanding of the policies and laws that guide the decisions made by a Louisa County Deputy. Presentations will be made by law enforcement personnel on the sheriff’s office’s mission, ethics, hiring, laws, Emergency Communications, Emergency Operations Center, Marine Patrol, K-9, Crisis Negotiations, Special Response Team, officer safety techniques, General and Crime Scene Investigations.
If your teen is interested in attending this academy, please fill out the application to apply.
