The Louisa County Sheriff's Office is always interested in improving on the already great relationship we have with the community by building stronger and better bridges to our neighborhoods. We are always striving to find better ways to create stronger bonds with those in our community, and not just bonds between law enforcement and citizens, but between neighbors.
National Night Out is a community-building campaign, held annually on the first Tuesday of August, that promotes law enforcement - community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
Most communities celebrate National Night Out by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various events. Sometimes including safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime prevention and drug prevention awareness.
- Generate support for, and participate in, local anticrime programs.
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and law enforcement – community partnerships
- The biggest goal is to send a message to criminals letting them know that the residents are organized and working with law enforcement to protect their neighborhoods. It is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, law enforcement officers and community officials.
The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from 9,500 communities from all 50 states, US territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.
